Intervention by HaMoked prevented the deportation to the Gaza Strip of two Palestinians arrested in the West Bank. The authorities intended to deport the two men solely because their registered address is in the Gaza Strip: HaMoked opposes Israel’s abuse of the bureaucratic matter such as one's registered address for the purpose of deporting a person from their home. HaMoked cautions that this is an attempt to promote the policy of separation between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, contrary to international agreements and to the rulings of the Supreme Court

HaMoked submitted a habeas corpus petition for the location of a young Palestinian arrested in Qalqilya: In the framework of the petition it emerged that the young man had been recorded with another person’s name during his arrest, and was indicted under this name

HaMoked - Center for the Defence of the Individual and other human rights organizations petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court today to renew family visitations for prisoners from the Gaza Strip being held in Israeli prisons: For over a year, Israel has prevented relatives of prisoners to visit their loved ones, without justification, thereby violating the fundamental rights of the prisoners and their families

HaMoked has petitioned the High Court of Justice (HCJ) in the case of a Palestinian minor from Jordan who applied to be registered in the Population Registry in the territories despite having passed age 16: The HCJ rejected the petition, and even saw fit to express its opinion regarding the Petitioner’s quality of life in Jordan as opposed to “the distress facing others in the current political situation”

Yesterday, Tuesday, 10 June 2008, the Civil Wrongs (Liability of State) Law (Amendment No. 8) – 2008 passed first reading in the Knesset.  The bill, promoted by Justice Minister Freidman, is designed to prevent residents of the Territories from filing tort claims against the state, even when damage was incurred in circumstances unrelated to acts of war: human rights organizations, including HaMoked, caution that the bill is an attempt to revive Amendment No. 7, which was unanimously struck down by 9 Supreme Court Justices after it was found to be unconstitutional

HaMoked is appealing against the Interior Ministry's arbitrary refusal of two family unification applications simply because the applicants are the brother and sister of the man who committed the attack on "Mercaz HaRav" Yeshiva in March 2008: HaMoked argues that the considerations behind the decision are unrelated to the family unification proceeding; that the decision is motivated by the desire for revenge; and that it constitutes collective punishment of relatives, which is contrary to the basic rules of justice and to Israeli law and court rulings
